Dr Kirsteen M MacKenzie is an academic historian who specialises in early modern British and Irish history from 1603-1788.  Her areas of expertise are the Wars of the Three Kingdoms 1638-1660 and the Jacobites 1688-1788.

Dr MacKenzie has published many articles on British and Irish politics, religion and diplomacy in the mid-seventeenth century.  Her first major book entitled ‘The Solemn League and Covenant and the Cromwellian Union 1643-1663’ was published by Routledge in 2017.

Dr MacKenzie also has a keen interest Franco-British relations under Cardinal Mazarin and Louis XIV.

Currently she is continuing to expand her horizons as a historian and is working on obtaining qualifications in French and Spanish.

Dr MacKenzie was has worked at the Universities of Dundee and Aberdeen.  Most recently she was a Lecturer in History at the University of Aberdeen between 2014-2017.
